There are four characteristics to determine the quality and price of colored diamond:
Carat Weight: Just like for white diamonds, the more a colored diamond weighs, the higher is its price.
Color: The more a stone is colored, the more it is sought after, Red diamonds are the most exceptional, followed by green, blue, pink pale and yellow ones. The presence of boron in a diamond gives it blue color, yellow, green and brown diamonds contain nitrogen, while pink diamonds reveal traces of manganese.
Cut: The cut of the stone influences its color greatly, when a perfect and symmetrical cut is obtained, a maximum amount of light will pass through the diamond and be reflected through the table.
Clarify: Inclusions are not all that important for bright colors, but in the case of light ones, they can prevent color from being reflected by making it stronger. In that case, a purer gemstone is preferred to one showing more inclusions. Additionally, a fifth C has become very important lately.
Certificate: Certificate testifies the genuineness and qualities of a natural diamond.
